8Bit Bullshit
Artist: MadHatter
Released online April 2007
Running time: 37:50
Also Featuring: Shelshocker, Chester, and several Scrub Club members and homies in the chorus of "Overheat."
11 tracks full of nonstop Nintendo memories to bob your head to. Following up on the underground success of Hatter's Zelda song "Ganon Slayer," this album takes a journey to the world of eight bit super heroes of the past, with each song describing the game from the main character's view.
Most of the classics have been covered here, and certain punchlines and metaphors will have oldschool cats laughing out loud. Featuring the actual in-game NES music ripped out, remixed, and given fresh new beats, the instrumentals alone will have you grinning. A release that definitely put Scrub Club on the nerdcore charts, this cd is packed with so much 80s time-warp freshness that Stephen Hawking's head exploded.
All of our music here at Scrub Club is free. However, if you enjoyed this release and would like to support our label, please make any size of donation to help all of our artists get new merch and promo items, book bigger shows, and get better equipment. Much love to you all!

ALBUM COMPOSITION AND TRIVIA
Originally planned for release in 2006, this badass side project was put aside time and time again in order to make way for other group projects. After those projects were cancelled or rescheduled, the actual recording and mixing of this album from scratch took less than 4 months on Scrub Club's new studio equipment.
During Scrub Club's live concerts, you will usually catch people running around during the 8Bit songs with props from certain games, like a sword and shield during Ganon Slayer, golden coins during Pipe Dreams, and sometimes zappers and old controllers.
The photoshoot for this album was hilarious to do and got a good amount of attention. Characters were played out by SCR members and friends for a few goofy hours, and during the mayhem were even asked to be in random shots including a girl's senior pictures. MadHatter was Mario, KnightDetective was Luigi, Zadi was Princess Toadstool (Peach), Chester was Donkey Kong, William Buckley was Snake, Wookie was Link, and our homie Amy was Princess Zelda. Surprisingly, none of us were arrested (it helped that the photoshoot ended up landing on April Fool's Day).
"Ganon Slayer" was first released in 2004 just as a single Hatter thought a few people might like, since he was a hardcore Zelda guy. In just a week after its appearance on Soundclick in 2005, the track rose to the top of the charts and landed #1 in the Electronic: Games genre, beating out 4,241 other submissions. In the Electronic genre itself, it climbed to #10, beating out 197,534 other submissions. It was produced by MadHatter and has vocals by MadHatter and Chester as a confused old man. Recorded and mixed by MadHatter at Spare Bedroom Studios. Contains samples from the NES game "The Legend Of Zelda," originally composed by Koji Kondo. Copyright Nintendo 1987. Also contains samples from a horribly odd Zelda commercial.
The song "AFS," which you truly have to hear to understand this fact, was written, produced, recorded, and mixed within a period of 45 minutes. Also note that this track is ridiculous and evilly catchy on purpose. Sorry in advance! It was produced by MadHatter and has vocals by MadHatter and a babbling insane Chester. Recorded and mixed by MadHatter at Spare Bedroom Studios. Contains samples from the NES game "Bubble Bobble," originally composed by Zuntata and Tadashi Kimijima. (God damn, it took two people?!) Copyright Taito / Nintendo 1988.
"Bullets And Buckshot" was one of the first video games based on the Old West. We would like to claim that this has never been done before, a Hip Hop song about a western from an old video game. Triple odd scenario. We're pretty sure that's a first, haha. It was produced by MadHatter and has vocals by MadHatter. Recorded and mixed by MadHatter at Spare Bedroom Studios. Contains samples from the NES game "Gun.Smoke," originally composed by Junko Tamitani. Yeeeee-hawww! Copyright Capcom / Nintendo 1998.
"Ultimate Warp Zone" was produced by MadHatter and has vocals by MadHatter. Recorded and mixed by MadHatter at Spare Bedroom Studios. Contains samples from the dope-ass Saturday morning cartoon "Captain N: The Game Master." Copyright Nintendo / ABC / DiC Entertainment 1989.
"The Game Master" was produced by MadHatter and has vocals by MadHatter. Recorded and mixed by MadHatter at Spare Bedroom Studios. Contains samples from the NES game "Bad Dudes," originally composed by Saki, Miura, Suzuki, and Takahama. Copyright Data East / Nintendo 1989.
"Smoke Screen" was produced by MadHatter and has vocals by MadHatter. Recorded and mixed by MadHatter at Spare Bedroom Studios. Contains samples from the NES game "Spy Hunter," originally composed by Henry Mancini as the "Peter Gunn Theme," Copyright 1958. Recomposed and used by SunSoft / Nintendo, Copyright 1987.
"Unstoppable" marks the first and only time Shelshocker (MadHatter's wife) has ever recorded. It was produced by MadHatter and has vocals by MadHatter and Shelshocker. Recorded and mixed by MadHatter at Spare Bedroom Studios. Contains samples from the NES game "Gauntlet," originally composed by Hal Canon and Earl Vickers. Copyright Tengen / Nintendo 1987.
"Operation N313" was produced by MadHatter and has vocals by MadHatter. Recorded and mixed by MadHatter at Spare Bedroom Studios. Contains samples from the NES game "Metal Gear," originally composed by Kazuki Muraoka. Copyright Konami / Nintendo 1987.
"Overheat" was produced by MadHatter and has vocals by MadHatter and a rowdy group of Scrub Club and friends. Recorded and mixed by MadHatter at Spare Bedroom Studios. Contains samples from the NES game "Excitebike," originally composed by Shigeru Miyamoto. Copyright Nintendo 1985.
"TKO" was produced by MadHatter and has vocals by MadHatter. Recorded and mixed by MadHatter at Spare Bedroom Studios. Contains samples from the NES game "Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!," originally composed by A. Nakatuka, Koji Yamamoto, and V. Kaneoka. Copyright Nintendo 1987.
"Pipe Dreams" was produced by MadHatter and has vocals by MadHatter. Recorded and mixed by MadHatter at Spare Bedroom Studios. Contains samples from the NES game "Super Mario Brothers," originally composed by Koji Kondo. Copyright Nintendo 1985. Also contains samples from an old-ass Nintendo commercial for the "Super Sonic" controller.
